पुलिस आयुक्तालय और महिला स्वैच्छिक संगठन आईएसडी के सहयोग से 3 सितंबर, 2017 को शुरू किया गया महिला सहायता केंद्र 'मध्यम' 7 साल से चल रहा है। तत्कालीन पुलिस आयुक्त डॉ राजेंद्र प्रसाद शर्मा अब शहर में हिंसा की शिकार महिलाओं की मदद के लिए हाथ बढ़ा रहे हैं. कटक और भुवनेश्वर डीसीपी दोनों कार्यालयों में संचालित 'मध्यम' परामर्श केंद्र के कारण पुलिस स्टेशनों में मामलों की संख्या अब घट रही है, जिसमें पिछले चार वर्षों में कुल 4,103 महिलाएं अपनी शिकायतें लेकर आई हैं, जिनमें से 3,119 दर्ज की गई हैं। की गयी।
