निदेशालय के अधिकारियों के अथक प्रयासों के कारण, ओडिशा को देश में सबसे अधिक खनिज उत्पादक राज्य माना जाता है।

भुवनेश्वर,उड़ीसा ( जनक्रांति हिन्दी न्यूज बुलेटिन कार्यालय बिस्वरंजन मिश्रा समाचार 05 अक्टूबर 2021 ) । भूविज्ञान निदेशालय, इस्पात और खान विभाग, ओडिशा सरकार के प्रशासनिक नियंत्रण में आता है। यह विभाग राज्य में खनिज संसाधनों के अन्वेषण और मूल्यांकन के लिए नोडल एजेंसी के रूप में कार्य करता है। ओडिशा को क्रोमाइट, बॉक्साइट, ग्रेफाइट, लौह अयस्क, मैंगनीज, कोयला, रत्न, चूना पत्थर, चीनी मिट्टी और कई अन्य खनिजों की एक अच्छी संख्या के साथ प्रदान किया गया है।

इस निदेशालय के अधिकारियों के अथक प्रयासों के कारण, ओडिशा को देश में सबसे अधिक खनिज उत्पादक राज्य माना जाता है। अब अन्वेषण कार्य नीलामी मोड में है और भूविज्ञान निदेशालय की मुख्य जिम्मेदारी नीलामी के लिए खनिज ब्लॉकों की पहचान और मूल्यांकन करना है। खनिज अन्वेषण कार्यक्रम में तेजी लाने और सुविधा के लिए, हाल ही में इस्पात और खान विभाग ने भूविज्ञान निदेशालय, भुवनेश्वर में अत्यधिक उन्नत और वैज्ञानिक एक्सआरडी और एक्सआरएफ प्रयोगशाला शुरू की। पहली बार इस प्रकार की प्रयोगशाला ओडिशा सरकार द्वारा खरीदी गई है। एक्सआरडी और एक्सआरएफ प्रयोगशाला चट्टानों और खनिजों के विश्लेषणात्मक पहलू को आगे बढ़ाएगी,  जिससे नीलामी प्रक्रिया में तेजी आएगी। एक्सआरडी (एक्स-रे विवर्तन) मशीन खनिज चरण की सटीक पहचान करेगी जबकि एक्सआरएफ (एक्स-रे फ्लोरेसेंस) चट्टानों/अयस्कों के तत्काल विश्लेषण के लिए है। दोनों उपकरणों की कीमत करीब पांच करोड़ रुपये है।

इन उपकरणों के चालू होने से निश्चित रूप से खनिज अन्वेषण कार्यक्रम को बढ़ावा मिलने वाला है। ग्रेड निर्धारण अधिक सटीक होगा और विश्लेषणात्मक समय सीमा बहुत कम होगी जिससे राज्य के समग्र रॉयल्टी लाभ में वृद्धि होगी। यह प्रयोगशाला न केवल निदेशालय की जरूरतों को पूरा करेगी बल्कि शोध छात्रों और राज्य में संचालित सभी खनन एजेंसियों के लिए बहुत मददगार होगी। माननीय इस्पात और खान मंत्री, श्री प्रफुल्ल कुमार मल्लिक को श्री डी.के सिंह, प्रमुख सचिव, सरकार की उपस्थिति में प्रयोगशाला का उद्घाटन किया। ओडिशा का; श्री देबिदत्त बिस्वाल, खान निदेशक; श्री बलवंत सिंह, प्रबंध निदेशक, ओएमसी; श्री एम. आर. पांडा, भूविज्ञान निदेशक; श्री एम.आर. महापात्रा, अपर निदेशक भूविज्ञान; डॉ प्रबल कुमार चंद, संयुक्त निदेशक भूविज्ञान; एमडी क्यू जमाल खान, उप निदेशक भूविज्ञान; श्रीमती सुभ्रा सुनयना आइच, भूविज्ञानी; श्रीमती मोनिका घाना, भूविज्ञानी; श्रीमती। संतोसिनी स्वैन, भूविज्ञानी एवं निदेशालय के अन्य वरिष्ठ अधिकारी।

Bhubaneswar,0disha ( Jankranti hindi news bulletin office BISWARANJAN MISHRA NEWS 05 October, 2021)।.  The Directorate of Geology comes under the administrative control of Department of Steel & Mines, Govt.of Odisha. This department acts as the nodal agency for the exploration and assessment of mineral resources in the state. Odisha is bestowed with a good number of mineral deposits like Chromite, Bauxite, Graphite, Iron ore, Manganese, Coal, Gemstones, Limestone, China clay and many more. Due to the relentless efforts of the officers of this Directorate, Odisha is reckoned as the most prolific mineral producing state in the country. Now the exploration work is in auction mode and the prime responsibility of the Directorate of Geology is to identify and assess the minerals blocks for auction. To expedite and facilitate the mineral exploration programme, recently the Steel & Mines Department commissioned the highly advanced and scientific XRD & XRF Laboratory in the Directorate of Geology, Bhubaneswar. For the very first time this type laboratory is procured by the Government of Odisha. The XRD & XRF Laboratory will step up the analytical aspect of rocks and minerals which in turn will accelerate the auction process. XRD (X-Ray diffraction) machine will precisely identify the mineral phase whereas XRF (X- Ray Fluorescence) is for elemental analysis of rocks / ores instantly. Both the instruments cost around five cores rupees. The mineral exploration programme is surely going to get a boost with the commissioning of these instruments. The grade determination will be more accurate and analytical time frame will be much less which in turn will lead to enhanced overall royalty gain of the state. This Laboratory will not only cater to the needs of the Directorate but will be of immense help for research students and all mining agencies operating in the State. Honorable Minister, Steel & Mines, Sri Prafulla Kumar Mallik inaugurated the laboratory in the presence of Shri D.K Singh, Principal Secretary to Govt. of Odisha; Shri Debidutta Biswal, Director of Mines; Shri Balwant Singh, Managing Director, OMC; Shri M.
